About GPS LifePlan
Created by Century College (MN) in 2006, the GPS LifePlan is a holistic program designed to help students create the life they want. The program focuses on five areas of development:
- Career
- Education
- Finance
- Leadership
- Personal
The GPS LifePlan provides a framework/structure to help student's approach goal setting and connects them to resources that can help them achieve those goals. The program contains three components:
- GPS LifePlan website
- MyLifePlan Dashboard (a private electronic storage box where assessments, goals and plans can be saved)
- Local campus workshops/events
History of the GPS LifePlan:
- 2006: GPS LifePlan created by Century College (MN).
- 2008: The Minnesota State colleges and universities system, in partnership with Century College and with representatives of other Minnesota State colleges and universities institutions and CAREERwise (formerly iSEEK), develop a more generalized higher education version of the GPS LifePlan.
- 2009: Military version added.
- 2011: Workforce and Secondary versions added.
- 2016: GPS updated with versions merging into one site, becomes mobile friendly.
